Summary:Chronic venous disease (CVD) of the lower extremities is a relevant healthcare problem today. The prevalence of CVD, with the predomination of early stage diseases, particularly among socially-active population, is a crucial factor that allows to plan and effectively implement the novel preventive and treatment schemes. In addition, the pathology is daily faced by doctors of virtually all specialties, and their knowledge and skills determine the course of our common fight against the «disease of civilization». Both Russian and global clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of CVD describe all aspects of the pathogenesis, treatment approaches and regimens for all stages of the disease. Application of the recent treatment algorithms could allow for a qualitative and adequate therapy for patients with chronic venous disease. Along with surgery, conservative treatment is widely used as a mandatory method of treatment of the pathology.
