Summary: | Introduction
With the advances in technology and communications, telecommunications and wireless systems, mobile phones worldwide and the number of BTS antennas are increasing in cities. Due to the dangers of these waves on human health, the purpose of this study was to investigate the electromagnetic radiation emission around BTS antennas in Karaj residential areas.
Materials and Methods
By field monitoring, 57 stations in Karaj were selected. Three replicates were measured at 5, 10, 30, and 50 m intervals by a TES-92 calibrated instrument made by Taiwan. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the standard and the waves at intervals with SPSS software.
Results
The results showed that as the distance from the antennas increased, the power density of the electromagnetic waves decreased. In addition, within 10 meters of the masts, the highest measured wave density was obtained with an average of 10.2222. There were significant differences at all distances except 5 and 30 meters (p <0.05) and the results were lower than the ICNIRP standard.
Conclusion
The distance factor is the most important characteristic in determining the density of electromagnetic waves. It seems that the magnitude of the electromagnetic waves at 10 meters distance is more than 5 meters due to shading and environmental factors. The overall results indicate the safe conditions of electromagnetic waves caused by BTS antennas in the city of Karaj, which is recommended to monitor the installation of new antennas at safe distances to maintain the existing conditions. |
