Description
Summary:This article reflects on some critical attitudes adopted by the critic and theorist Philippe Lejeune in his early works, L'autobiographie en France and Le pacte autobiographique, especially in relation to one of his objects of study: the Confessions of Rousseau. I seek to perceive how the critic first identifies himself with the literary object and then distances himself from it. At the same time I try to relate Lejeune's critical attitudes to some of the theoretical reflections on his critical work. Both processes of identification and of critical distance will be studied here through the figuration of the reader.
