| Summary: | The aim of this article is to bring together available, but still scattered and incomplete, information on events relating to 'dialect languages' under the Vichy regime. After providing a historical perspective and an overview of the measures taken in favour of 'dialect languages' under the Vichy regime, the author analyses the remarkable continuity with which movements in favour of the regions, their languages and their cultures have survived, without major upheavals, the various regimes that have provided the foundations of the State in France since the 19th century. |
