Description
Summary:With the expansion of welfare state understanding, social expenditure and its effects on economic growth and development has become one of the much discussed issues. It is claimed that economic intervention of the goverment with puplic expenditure by applying Keynesian economic policies following the 1929 economic depression boosted total demand and had an impact on economic growth. This study analyses the relationship between economic growth and social expenditure in Turkey between 1988 and 2018 by means of ARDL Bounds Test approach. According to the study results, there is a long-term cointegration relationship between the two variables. 1 % increase in social expenditure causes 12 % increase in economic growth.
