Summary:Within the framework of the Roman Church in the 19th century, it is discussed the effects that caused the Spanish liberal revolution in its Church, the internal division produced and the adaptation and resistance to change. The weakness of the Spanish liberal Catholicism and the growing clericalism led to an anti-clericalism, secularization during the revolucionary periods, which were considered as the last expression of liberalism by some bishops.
