description In this article we presented an option of engineering calculation of the critical stress of stability loss of local support in the area of open-ended modular pro-profiled bearing cylindrical shells on the basis of mathematical modeling of the contact boundary value problem of structural type. Revealed fundamental differences existing calculation methods of the proposed work. Conclusions on the possibility of using techniques developed for all types of membranes of this type. The results of complex experimental work on the full-scale simulation of the loss of local sustainability profile elements of the process.
