Description
Summary:This study aimed to build a Motivation for Learning Scale, developed in two stages. At the first, 67 items based on the theory of achievement goals were submitted to 11 judges and to semantic analysis by students. In the second stage, the 50 remaining items were applied to 739 high school students from public and private schools, 14 through 20 years of age, 55% girls. The data submitted to principal components analysis and to varimax rotation, resulted in a scale of 28 items, explaining 36.11% of the variance, which were categorized as learning goal, performance-approach goal and performanceavoidance goal. The internal consistency of the three subscales measured by Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.73 to 0.80.
