Description
Summary:Abstract It will be tried to bring up Cahız's Sarfe Theory which is mentioned by his teacher Nazzam. Cahız is one of the leading Imam of Mu'tezile madhab with the rationalistic approaches he brought into Kelam discipline, in addition to being a great scholar of Arabic Language, lived during the end of 2nd and middle of the 3rd century of Hijri Calendar. According to studies written on this subject, it is expressed that, Cahiz thought like his teacher Nazzam on Sarfe Theory. However, when evaluated Cahız’s studies with a general point of view, it is understood that he did not think like his teacher Nazzam, who is a great master of language, and on the contrary he thought that the Qur'an is a miracle with its wording and rhetoric. Altough Sarfe theory denotes that a book like Qur’an could be written by nonbelievers but Allah himself has takenthis ability from them, Cahız says that this is not true so that his teacher Nazzam is apparently wrong about it and Cahız also tells that he has written a book about this subject.
