Description
Summary:Basidiobolomycosis is a rare fungal disorder mostly restricted to the arid regions of US and the middle-eastern countries. We report an unusual case of this rare infection of the colon in a 45-year immunocompetent male with a rare fungus Basidiobolus ranarum managed successfully with surgery and antifungals. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of gastrointestinal infection with B. ranarum in an immunocompetent individual, reported from India.
