Summary:<p class="Tekststreszczenia-EN"><span lang="EN-US">The paper presents the role of the Polish National Bank in the interbank money market. The central bank is a key institution regulating the level of monetary equilibrium and liquidity of banking sector, activating the commercial banks' liquidity management and contributing to the efficient reallocation of funds in the banking sector.</span></p> <p class="Tekststreszczenia-EN"><span lang="EN-US"> The work consists of three parts. The first part is the characteristics of the Polish interbank market. In this section, the organization and functioning rules of interbank market as non-public, over the counter and unregulated market were showed. This part describes also the segments of interbank market and its participants. The second part shows the transactions with the central bank and its importance to the banking sector. The last part included the factors affecting the situation on the interbank market, both those which are influenced by the central bank, as well as the autonomous determinants.</span></p>
