Description
Summary:The use of modal structures and motivation for action is used far more frequently during communication in Spanish than in Russian, which corroborates the positive politeness concept and helps increase rapport with the interlocutor. In the last decade, the preferences of Spanish speakers regarding the use of modal constructions have shifted, giving way to lighter influence phrase structure. Specifically, a tendency to use alternatives to imperative and subjunctive models, such as infinitive construcciones, perífrasis verbales and imperativos lexicalizados can be observed. Some of these structures, typically associated with informal speech, are seeing adoption in the media, advertising, and business communication spaces. Therefore, these and other modern linguistic tendencies should be considered in developing foreign language students' competence using communication strategies.
