Summary: | The paper features the results of a study of glass pendants in the form of a waterfowl (duck). They were discovered in the burials of the 13th-14th centuries in the Volga-Don region, and in the territory of the Golden Horde cities as a result of archaeological excavations. A total of 25 specimens have been studied. The basis for the systematization of pendants were such features as the manufacturing technology, shape, ornamentation, color and size. The classification has allowed to subdivide the finds into two groups. The majority of the specimens (20 items) are products of the Golden Horde’s own workshops. Only a few items are presumably related to import. A complex analysis of bird-shaped pendants has made it possible to consider some issues of local glassmaking, identify the problems of using pendants in a costume and clarify the possibilities for dating burials on the basis of glass pendants.
