description In this article is argued that due to different social, philosophical and ecclesiastical changes in society the practice of small groups could be the solution to the need of koinonia (fellowship) among believers. The involvement of believers in small groups could likewise be instrumental in the deepening of their faith. The advantages and dynamics of small groups - for instance as a place where God could be listened to, an opportunity for koinonia, becoming sensitive towards the world and its needs and the addressing of socio-emotional needs, are expounded. The conclusion arrived at is that small groups can be an important factor in facilitating spirituality and the experience that "God is among us."
