Description
Summary:Often highlighted are the modern features of some art works that caused them to be rejected in their time, such as the Paraíba, by Almeida Reis, 1866, set in Europe during the scholarship of the artist. In this paper, we analyze and question the modern or traditional character of this work, through its detailed study, its relationships and influences, its situation in the tradition of the subject represented, and the important fact that it was received into a very different artistic environment to the one in which it was created.
