Summary: | Although much has been written on eschatology and Jesus, yet not all has been said. The article analyzes the language of Christ regarding the time of His return having two issues in view. The first is how should this language be understood? Did Christ really mean what He said? Was the end of time really at hand when the statement had been written? The second is to offer an informed and accurate explanation as to the delay of the eschaton. If Jesus was really about to come back very soon and this did not happen, what should the reader make of His promises? The study tackles also the delay-statements in the hope to highlight the biblical richness of Jesus’ profile as an apocalyptic prophet.
