Summary:The article presents a research of motives for learning foreign languages of students studying at the magistracy of engineering programme at the interschool department “Applied physics and space technologies”. As a result, the predominance of motivation for fluent speech communication is revealed. In addition, professional, personality growth, applied motives (resolving specific practical tasks) are revealed as leading ones. On the base of revealed types of motives the authors worked out some recommendations on teaching forms for masters with different types of motives.
