Description
Summary:In the period 2018 – 2019, the State Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr carried out a geological task termed Engineering Geological Survey of Slope Deformations – Stage 1. The aim of the geological task was to improve the prevention of landslide risks by providing an engineering geological investigation of those slope deformations which, in terms of socio-economic signifiance (danger to life and property) and the resulting landslide risk according to the scale recommended by the European Multi-Risk Assessment Commission, are currently the most serious landslide sites in the Slovak Republic. Within the 1st stage of engineering geological surveys of slope deformations, 13 localities in the territory of Slovakia were selected. Slope deformations endanger family houses in almost all the localities in question, they often endanger the infrastructure – power lines, roads, etc. The paper focuses on summarizing the results of surveys, especially in terms of characteristics, causes, assessment of the degree of stability and the design of remediation of the examined slope deformations.
