description This paper attempts to show that one can see in Shakespeare’s theatre the ground for the conceptualisation of a modern definition of truth, after the sceptic crisis of the second humanism. If Shakespeare seems to criticise the philosophy of his time due to its conception of truth as an opposition to appearances, his plays show an experimentation of true thought that places it at the confluence of different determinations, through the experience of staging, rather than in the opposition to what does not seem to be rational. Shakespeare's theater enables therefore to consider the conditions of true thinking thanks to the meeting of philosophical elaboration and theatrical practice.
