Summary:The experience of the tourists at each destination, besides natural and social attractions, is contributed by local food which is the intangible heritage of the destination and represents the culture of the local community. The aim of this study is to examine the differences in the consumption of local food among tourists from the former Yugoslavian republics with respect to the city centres in which they stayed, Belgrade and Novi Sad in the Republic of Serbia. The study was conducted on a sample of 674 respondents. Differences were tested by dual factor analysis of variance and T independent test. This study reports on the research related to the consumption of local food at the destination, the development of urban tourism and the perception of tourists from the former Yugoslavian republics.
