Summary: | The article gives a proposal for the referring theorist, at the moment of approaching the theme of the educational needs among the Afro-Colombian ethnic groups. This emerge in the framework of the (Thesis of the) masters in education in the cultural aspect and pedagogy of human rights which was studied by the authors. In it, it proposes that, to know what the educational needs are, it is important that the students recognize the ethnic group one belongs. It is in this assessment that, it is considered necessary to identify, explain and develop categories like identity, ethnic group, and educational necessities. Already, these help to understand and look for relevant and appropriate strategies that contribute to strengthening of the Afro-Colombian identity as an ethnic group; also, to its development as human beings with right to standard of living.
