description Migration is an integral part of the history of La Réunion, an island in the Indian Ocean which was uninhabited prior to the seventeenth century. People, coming freely or forcibly from Europe, India, China, Africa and Madagascar, have made up a creole society. Long isolated from its French colonial metropole, La Réunion is now opening up to the outside world. Formely forced, migration is now viewed more and more positively. As in many other territories in the world, an economy of communicative flows is implemented, and the existence of a Reunionese diaspora is underlined. The aim of this paper is to observe this new diasporic situation as a process through which Reunionese people living overseas imagine their locality, here and over there, on a daily basis particularly by using information technologies. We focus our analysis on an electronic Internet site, reunionnaisdumonde.com.
