Methods Here we report a case of a 47 year old female patient who presented with sudden onset left hemiparesis, dysarthria and facial deviation since 12 hours. She had h/o covid 1 month ago MRI Brain – DWI showed multiple embolic infarcts in right MCA territory MRI Angio – moderate to high grade stenosis at the origin of ICA Results Patient was taken up for DSA. Thromboaspiration done and Xact stent deployed across carotid bifurcation into right ICA Post op patient did well and her weakness had almost completely resolved Conclusions Highlighting points in this patient: lack of or only mild underlying atherosclerosis, no cardioembolic source. The highly prothrombotic state of some COVID 19 patients explains the presence of thrombus in medium and large vessels with or without mild atherosclerotic disease. |
