Summary:Productivity and competitivenessare important segments of economic growth anddevelopment, and we know that productivity andcompetitiveness depend on the rate of technologicalchange - the speed of innovation. A country thatseriously understood this message is China, whichboasts of an extremely high economic growth inrecent years, and which today is the second mostpowerful economy in the world. The main generatorof economic growth in China is innovation - largenumber of patents. In fact, in a short period oftime, China decided to change its economic policy,so it turned from traditional agriculture andproduction to innovation activities. In this paper weexplore some basic features of the patent as a majorace in the race in innovation. We analyze the mainfactors that caused the great progress of China inthe field of patent activity. Accordingly, we willdiscuss the patent issue as an important indicator ofeconomic growth, in the following areas: 1. Theconcept and characteristics of the patent; 2. China'seconomy: the state, innovations and patents.
