description | The present showed the relation between the socioeconomic profile and the emotional intelligence in the students of Instituto Universitario of Cabimas, Venezuela. This objective is assumed in a descriptive fashion and through a correlational design. The population was made up by 128 entering students attending the specializations in Maintenance Management and Business Management. The technique used to collect the data was the filling of questionnaires by the subjects, to measure the SEP variable the socioeconomic stratification method was used, and the questionnaire made was constructed by the author used. The resulting data was then reunited and analyzed through descriptive statistical parameters and statistically significative correlations. These results showed that the students entering the institute belong in average to the medium-low stratum, and that a 51,56% of such population has a level of presence of emotional intelligence assessed as high. Important tendencies were observed when correlating their dimensions in different strata and categories: particularly in the group made up by working students from the critical poverty stratum, where a close correspondence was found between SEP and Self-control dimension (EI). |
