Description
Summary:The influence of themolecular weight of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)and polyacrylamide (PAM) on theelectrical properties of the ZrO/polymer solution interface was examined. Themain factors responsible for the observed zetapotential and surface charge changes of zr02 were defined. Changes in the ionicstructure of the Stem layer depend on the number and distribution of -COOH groups in polymer macromolecules. These groups areresponsible forthepolymer chain conformation at the surface and have an influence on theamount of polyelectrolyte adsorbed. The thicknesses of theadsorption layers and thefree energy of adsorption of the polymers examined were calculated.
