Description
Summary:Electronic and optical properties of the structures of semiconductor planar double- heterojuction lasers (SCPDHLs) are investigated in terms of some parameters of the electric field in the sense of energy eigenvalues (EEVs) of electrons in the conduction band or of holes in the valance band in the electronic structures of the materials used for the SCPDHLs. The normalized (dimensionless) coordinate parameters ζ and η of the EEVs of charged particles such as electrons or holes are important parameters of the asymmetric semiconductor planar double-heterojuction lasers (ASCPDHLs) and of the symmetric semiconductor planar double-heterojuction lasers (SSCPDHLs) for some inevitable design considerations. The EEVs of carriers are studied in terms of electric field parameters such as normalized propagation constant (NPC) α and normalized frequency (NF) V. The NPC α includes a lot of structural properties of the material used for the SCPDHLs and is an important parameters. This constant is always positive and between 0 and 1. This is also a function of the some parameters of the semiconductor material used such as the effective masses of the carriers and the refractive index of the material used and the propagation constants of the electric fields for the active region (AR) and the cladding layers (CLs). Furthermore, the NPC α is directly a function of bounded and/or ground energy for carriers in the AR. The parameters NPC α and the NF V and the normalized coordinate parameters ζ and η of the EEVs of charged particles in the active regions (ARs) of the SCPDHLs are obtained for some inevitable design considerations. The energy eigenvalue (EEV) points of the carriers in the normalized coordinate system ηζ− (in the plane ηζ−) can also be determined by the NF V. For V=1 there is only one EEV solution point for the lowest-mode optical even electric field (EEF) cosζ of an electron or a hole, but there is not EEV solution point for the lowest-mode optical odd electric field (OEF) sinζ of the carriers between 0 and 2/π on the dimensionless axis ζ in the plane ηζ−). For the OEF function there is only one solution point for V=2
