description The paper considers the results on flexural deformation detected by the authors in whiskers of lead azides and potassium nitrate when exposed to light, electric field and temperature. The discussion of findings is carried out from the perspective of ferroelectric (domain) properties of the objects investigated. Spontaneous polarization emerge in the whiskers, resulting in flexural deformation due to the piezoelectric effect,  changes in internal electric fields and affecting  the explosive sensitivity of lead azides and the mechanism of decomposition.
