description This article examines the relationship betwixt the apostolic delegate of the United States, Amleto Cicognani, and the apostolic delegate of Mexico, Leopoldo Ruiz y Flores, between 1933 and 1937. During this period the rivalry grew among the two representatives of the Holy See, while both of them were in the United States. The struggle between both legates regarding the solution at the religious conflict in Mexico was such that it destabilized the political factor in the USA, gone to the roman curia and provoked the removal of the apostolic delegate of Mexico. Based on a documentary revision in the Vatican Secret Archives this investigation suggests an interpretation to the difficulties found in the solution of the Mexican political- religious struggle during the thirties of the twentieth century. The work was principally focused on the selection of the negotiators and on the impact of the United States into a supposed national- based solution.
