description Background: Turmeric is a naturally occurring polyphenol that alleviates many diseases. The main phytochemical in them is curcumin which has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, and analgesic properties. Poor solubility and bioavailability due to its hydrophobic nature are its drawback. Objectives: This research aimed to green synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using turmeric extract and to analyze its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial potential among oral pathogens. Materials and Methods: Turmeric silver nanoparticles (TuAgNPs) were analyzed by UV-visible spectrophotometer (UV-Vis) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens were evaluated. Results: UV-visible spectrophotometry of TuAgNPs showed its maximum absorption peak at 440 nm. TEM image exhibited spherical-shaped AgNPs with a size of about 30 nm. They showed 88% strong antioxidant and 83% anti-inflammatory activities at 50 μg/mL. Biosynthesized TuAgNPs showed its potent effect against Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans at 25 μg/mL, and Enterococcus faecalis at 50 μg/mL. Conclusion: The development of effective green-synthesized TuAgNPs showed strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and broad spectrum antimicrobial potential against oral pathogens. Biosynthesis of novel TuAgNPs could be efficiently utilized in the application of treating various oral mucosal lesions.
