description | Purpose. To evaluate results of a developed and approved method in the wound treatment after the surgery of eyeball removal using the Apollo PAK-AI biologically active compositions (BAC).Material and methods. This study included 125 patients aged 18-72 years. Reasons for the eyeball removal were the following: subatrophy of eyeball, absolute painful glaucoma, consequences of severe penetrating injuries, buphthalmos. All removed eyes were blind and had no light per ception. The patients were divided into 2 groups: the Apollo PAK-AI BAC was used after removal of the eyeball for 80 (64.0%) patients of the first (basic) group; the traditional treatment was performed in the postoperative period for 45 (36.0%) patients of the second (control) group.Results. Comparing the results of treatment of patients in the basic and control groups, we noted an advantage of the treatment using the Apollo PAK-AI BAC: the first bandaging was atraumatic and painless in comparison to the control group where it was traumatic, painful, with bleeding. During the examination of patients of the basic group on the next day after the operation it was noted a scant sanious discharge of the 1st degree in all patients. Edema and hyperemia of eyelids of the 1st degree was in 57 patients (71.4%), the 2nd degree – in 22 patients (27.4%). Conjunctiva edema of the 1st degree was in 43 patients (53.8%), the 2nd degree – in 31 patients (38.7%) and the 3rd degree – in 6 patients (7.5%). At 5 days of the follow-up a scant mucous discharge was only in 18 patients (22.5%). Edema and hyperemia of eyelids and conjunctiva of the 1st degree was observed in 34 patients (42.5%). During the examination of patients of the control group on the next day after the operation it was noted a profuse sanious discharge in all 45 (100%) patients. Edema and hyperemia of eyelids and conjunctiva of the 2nd degree was in 14 patients (31.1%), the 3rd degree – in 31 patients (68.9%). Hemorrhages of the 2nd degree were in 16 patients (35.6%) and the 3rd degree – in 29 patients (64.4%). At 5 days of the followup the mucous discharge of the 1st degree remained in 18 patients (40.0%) and the 2nd degree – in 20 patients (44.4%). Edema and hyperemia of eyelids of the 1st degree was in 17 patients (37.8%), the 2nd degree – in 21 patients (46.6%), the 3rd degree – in 7 patients (15.5%). Conjunctiva edema and hyperemia of the 1st degree was in15 patients (33.4%) and the 2nd degree – in 24 patients (53.4%). Dotted hemorrhages remained in 32 patients (71.2%). Results of morphological study confirmed an expediency of the wound treatment using the Apollo PAK-AI BAC.Conclusion. Application of the Apollo PAK-AI BAC facilitates the condition after the undergoing surgery of eyeball removal, accelerates the process of healing and recovery that allows to prepare the conjunctiva cavity to the cosmetic prosthetics in a shorter period and to reduce terms of medical social rehabilitation of patients. |
