| description | The success of the Kingdom of Serbia in the Balkan Wars 1912-1913 did not bring political stability to the country. On the contrary, certain military circles, encouraged by the success of the war, felt that the time had come for the national political issue to be resolved without hesitation. This situation caused the election crisis in Serbia in early 1914. In the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Serbs were subjected to ethnic discrimination, especially since 1912. Their conservation of identity amounted to a cultural activity; it was a negligible way of presenting their national feelings. There was a meeting of many Serbian choral societies in Sombor, which was attended by over 1000 participants who sang folk and patriotic songs. This event resonated in all the places where Serbian people lived. |
