Description
Summary:High levels of lipids and lipoproteins in young adults are significant risk factors for the development of heart disease in older ages. Increased levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides, high levels of low-density lipoprotein and low levels of high-density lipoprotein contribute to cardiovascular disease. Therefore, when starting antiepileptics, it is important to assess changes in serum lipid levels and choose the safety drug, thus contributing to the prevention of cardiovascular complications in older ages. This paper is a review of the e effects of AED use on plasma lipid parameters.
