description The War of the Communities of Castile was one of the most important initial episodes of the reign of Charles I, not only under a military point of view, but also from social, economic, ideological, and political perspectives. On this occasion, we deal with its military dimension, pointing out that it was a war with medieval characteristics and novelties, which allow us to consider it as a transitional war: abundant in tactical movements and city sieges, it was ultimately resolved in a single camp battle, Villalar’s, prepared well before the decisive moment, preceded by movements of both armies and resolved in a quick outcome.
