description The sufi polygraph author al-Nābulusī made several journeys through some of the islamic Eastern countries. The accounts of his travels show a different perspective within the tradition of Arab travel literature. Through the comparison with the descriptions of some places in Syria and Jerusalem made by Ibn Baṭṭūṭa -and, to a lesser extent, other authors-, we will emphasize the contrasting quality of the features which characterize al-Nābulusī´s accounts in order to elucidate whether the sufi riḥla can be considered a subgenre of Arab travel literature.
