Summary:This scientific review highlights the results of domestic and foreign studies aimed at researching the biological aspects of failure to control aggressive impulses. We analyze the role of serotonergic, dopaminergic, noradrenergic, glutamatergic systems, and neuroendocrine mechanisms in aggression manifestation. We discuss the inconsistency of modern concepts about the neurochemical nature of aggressive behavior. The relevance of evaluating the biomarkers of public danger is substantiated. Finally, questions of psychopharmacotherapy of aggressive behavior are reviewed.
