Description
Summary:Abstract Introduction With regional dissection of the limbs, students frequently do not make the connections between distinct portions of neurovascular structures that can be found in different regions. The goal of these videos is to aid students in their study of the neurovascular structures in the upper limb, by illustrating the complete paths taken by nerves and arteries in the upper limb. Students had commented that prior videos were too long, so these were made shortened and focused. Methods This series of 10 short videos of cadaveric dissections are designed to be incorporated into class/home studies without significant time commitment. In addition, the availability of short segment videos for each nerve allows students/instructors to review only what they want to. Results Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive and student performance on the practical exam was significantly improved after studying the videos. Discussion Short dissection videos are an effective self-study tool for learning the neurovascular anatomy of the upper limb. The ability to follow the entire course of the major nerves and arteries throughout the upper limb should greatly enhance student learning.
