| description | This paper aims to study effects of an increase in water prices on water and other agricultural inputs in The Jam Township in The Bushehr Province. Water demand function was estimated by using The IDEA method. A random sample of farmers selected and divided into several groups based on farm size and degree of efficiency. Results indicated that price elasticity of water was generally low and, that was even lower for more efficient and larger farmers. Results of the study also showed that small farmers were vulnerable to increase in price of water and this had harmful effect on their level of livelihoods. Result further indicated that land was a good substitute for water and fertilizer where labor and water were complementary inputs. Also, an increase in the price of water had negative effect on the pesticide use. |
