description Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck is a social and health problem of great importance, not only for its high incidence in our community, but also because its control involves a high cost, both for the patient and for society. The prognostic factors that adversely affect the outcome are divided into four groups: patient factors, tumor factors, treatment factors and institution factors. There is no single determining prognostic factor; the combination of several of them allows the identification of risk. These factors predict the evolution and allow deciding the ideal therapeutic sequence individually.
