Description
Summary:The typology studies of date palm oases are numerous. They make it possible to describe a situation, to draw up an inventory to classify the different palm groves that make up the oasis. Structural and functional criteria are considered such as the availability of the means of production, which guide producers’ strategies. Several approaches have beenadopted: bioclimatic, at the origin of characteristic irrigation systems; historical, which distinguishes palm groves according to their age; and recent so-called multidimensional methods, which combine several criteria at the same time. In our article proposal, we have favored a new element: to objectify the typology in such a way that we can participate in decision-making. The triggering element of our approach is the allocation of agricultural subsidies, which operate unequally between the old palm groves and the so-called modern palm groves. A classification grid is proposed with the aim of reconsidering these marginalized areas. As a reminder, these "old" areasare the origin of man’s presence in these hyperarid areas.
