description The present study aiming at defining the constituent materials and understanding the executive techniques used by Filippo Paladini during his painting heyday, perfectly displays the main characteristics of the painter’s ability – famous expression of the manneristic Tuscan and Tuscan-Roman culture with a clear emphasis on the new expressionist style and methods introduced after Caravaggio’s works. Some technical information in terms of Paladini’s technique were gathered, focusing the attention on some depictions corresponding to the mature period of the artist. We here refer to three important and relevant art works executed in Vizzini (Sicily, Catania) – respectively the Madonna of Mercede, the San Lorenzo Martyrdom and the Deposition – in a fair conservation state.
