description | On the basis of early researches about the relations between literature and visual culture, this essay analyses language and themes of some of Tommaso Pincio’s fictional works that include iconographic elements. The catalogue created by Michele Cometa is adopted as an essential critic method. It identifies four ways to connect literature and visual art: the Doppelbegabung (or double talent); the ekphrasis; the mixed media; the homologies (structural, thematic, poetological, metaphorical). This article proposes a study of the strategies used by Pincio to bridge visual and verbal language. In particular, it explores his double talent in creating artworks and including them in his works of fiction (the covers of Cinacittà, 2008, and Lo spazio sfinito, 2000); the iconotexts like Pulp Roma (2012), Lo spazio sfinito, Hotel a zero stelle (2011); the creation of ekphrasis in Il dono di saper vivere (2018); the theorization of the structural homology in Panorama (2015). |
