Description
Summary:The distributed generation (DG) integration into the power system is growing rapidly. Therefore, the power system experiencing low inertia and damping because DG possesses no or low inertia causes severe stability issues. Consequently, the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control technique is proposed to suppress the various stability issues in distributed power generation systems. This paper presents an in-depth literature review on VSG, along with a discussion on numerous modified and improved control techniques for VSG. Additionally, a detailed discussion is carried out on VSG stability and its applications. Furthermore, critical issues in VSG and future research directions are discussed in the end.
