Description
Summary:The transition to eGovernment creates challenges in terms of the confidentiality and security of sensitive data of citizens and organizations. Information systems require the implementation of appropriate security mechanisms to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. Blockchain technology has the potential to transform public services, enabling administrations to organize processes and manipulate information in an innovative way. Blockchain’s high level of security is an advantage over other tools and technologies used in data processing. This study examines how blockchain technology can contribute to the development of the new generation of eGovernment services and proposes an ecosystem model based on SSI (Self-Sovereign Identity) authentication and Smart Contracts between citizens and administrations. The results can be a starting point for the development of national initiatives to use the blockchain as a platform for communications and transactions in the public sector. Blockchain based electronic services provide enhanced security for governments, citizens and businesses.
