| Summary: | Abstract : This article investigates the complex link between language, utterer, and cultural context in the field of translation. It emphasises the importance of recognising the "intended meaning" that lies underneath the surface of language. Drawing on Paul Ricoeur's difference between " utterance meaning " and " utterer’s meaning," the essay argues that good translation requires taking into account both the literal meaning and the utterer's intended message within its specific cultural context. The concept of "intended meaning" extends beyond simple comprehension of uttered words, inviting readers on an intellectual trip that requires active participation through reasoning and interpretation. The article emphasises the importance of acknowledging this veiled layer, which enhances and deepens communication, resulting in a more complete understanding and enjoyment of the message.The work emphasises the importance of actively engaging with the text to reveal its underlying meaning, connecting established scholars such as Abdul Qaher al-Jurjani to Ricoeur's views. This exercise, as advised, promotes a deeper and more lasting comprehension. Finally, the article acknowledges the challenges and responsibilities that translators have. It emphasises the importance of bridging language and cultural gaps while retaining the depth, authenticity, and intended meaning of the original message. This requires proficiency in both languages as well as a sophisticated awareness of the cultural situations in question. By taking into account both the " utterance meaning " and the " utterer’s meaning," translators can provide accurate and coherent translations that preserve the original message.
