Description
Summary:Glaucomais a group of diseases characterized by optic nerve damage and visual field defect, and pathological high intraocular pressure is a risk factor for glaucoma. Glaucoma is affected by the interaction of multiple genes and environmental factors, and inflammation may be involved in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. A great deal of studies have confirmed that high expression of connective tissue growth factor(CTGF), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukins(ILs), nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)and various cytokines in the aqueous humor of patients with glaucoma, which have a close correlation with pathogenesis of glaucoma. This article reviews the progress of inflammatory cytokines and their relationship with glaucoma.
