| Summary: | In this paper the author presents and discusses the results of a study on the reproduction of impacts on an experimental lithic sample and their comparison with those identified in some of the flint backed point tools from the Epigravettian site of Riparo del Castello in Sicily. In summary, the results of the analysis indicate that two distinct functional types of instruments can be distinguished among the backed pointed tools from the Riparo del Castello: one that could be probably linked to the use of the bow, and the other to the use of the atlatl. |
