description | We understand teachers' knowledge as being the set of knowledge and experience acquired by the teachers during their professional career and applied in practice, thus constituting his identity as an educator. The environmental education has been characterized as a set of environmental activities and practices, which aims at raising awareness in society and solve environmental problems. To that end, this research aimed at investigating the teachers' knowledge base in the practice of Environmental Education (EE) and its development in a public school in the city of Marabá (PA). We conducted a qualitative research, obtaining information from semi-structured interviews conducted with two Elementary Education Science teachers who develop in their classes work geared towards environmental awareness of their students. The results show that although some knowledges are highlighted by the teachers, it remains necessary to provide a deeper theoretical study and courses that promote a continuing education so that the necessary knowledge to implement environmental education can be learned, developed and constituted in the educational process of each instructor, besides highlighting the importance of encouraging research among teachers in this area |
