Description
Summary:
Pilgrimages played a major role in the life of people from various cultural circles including Polish and German territories, whose inhabitants took part in peregrinations maiores, pilgrimages to Rome, Jerusalem, Santiago de Compostela or other geographically remote places. Local sanctuaries developed rapidly in the territories discussed here. The phenomenon of pilgrimage movements in the past has been analysed by many historians. However, it is necessary to conduct new interdisciplinary research, which would allow us to understand the phenomenon of pilgrimages in a wider context.
