Summary:This article aims to reflect on the history of education in the state of Ceará in the social context of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the years 2020 and part of 2021. It is questioned what measures are being adopted by the government of Ceará to contain this pandemic, especially in the educational context. Regarding the research methodology, the study is exploratory with a qualitative approach and interpretative theoretical perspective. The results obtained point to positive and negative factors of the implementation of remote education in the state school system. Among the positive aspects, it was identified the creation of projects, such as: Conexão Seduc, access to learning platforms, distribution of teaching material, food cards and suspension of face-to-face classes. As the negative ones, there were mentioned: difficulty of access to digital media, school dropout, teachers' psychological illness, devaluation of the teaching profession and, mainly, the inability to contain the worsening of social and educational inequalities.
